Sifu Garrett Stevens
Sifu Garrett Stevens has been on the martial arts path since 2004. His studies began with judo and jujitsu under Senseis and brothers Mike and Butch Veader at Seigneury dojo. From there Stevens began to grapple/roll with friends that competed in Brazilian jiujitsu tournaments and occasionally spar them to work his stand up striking.

Grandmaster Cliff Lenderman and Sifu Garrett Stevens
In 2015 Garrett joined the Lenderman Academy of martial arts to learn under Sifu Cliff Lenderman. There he received a curriculum of mixed martial arts covering Wing Chun (as taught to Sifu Lenderman from Sifu Francis Fong) Jeet Kune Do and Kali (from Dan Inosanto) Silat, Muay Thai, Karate, Shooto, and Bjj – all making for a great blend. At the Lenderman academy Stevens sparred regularly until in 2018 an injury sidelined him for a bit and Sifu Lenderman semi-retired. Currently Stevens is attending Barner’s Blue Dragons in order to complete his training in Lenderman’s blended art style under Shihan Daniel Barner and Grandmaster Lenderman. Sifu Stevens is also helping up their Wing Chun instruction by instructing there occasionally.
Sifu Garrett Stevens and Grandmaster Jody Hill
In August of 2019 Sifu Stevens found Sifu Jody Hill and began a deeper journey into Wing Chun mastery taking private sessions numerous times each week. Sifu Hill, an incredible fighter, is an authentic master with three different lineages back to Yip Man (Sifu Nga Men Yeung, Sifu Fernandez, and Sifu Chan Hing Fai).
Sifu Garrett Stevens won Instructor of the Year in 2022 for demonstrating exceptional skill and ability. In 2023 Hill Wing Chun closed. Crane and Cobra Close Combat is the only active Wing Chun school in Pierce County.
Sifu Garrett Stevens of Puyallup is highly dedicated to developing his combatives. Sifu Stevens trains daily and is in search of hungry students eager to learn Wing Chun and self defense.
In 2021 Sifu Garrett Stevens discovered Libre Knife Fighting and was immediately intrigued by the non-traditional, speedy and brutal knife fighting methods often unseen in most other arts. Gone are the days of large dueling swords and big knives many martial arts knife defenses and attacks are based off of. Today’s knife weilding criminal more than likely has a smaller, concealable folding knife that is deployed rapidly in a surprising and dishonorable fashion. Scott Babb, founder of Libre fighting, studied methods coming out of Mexico and other gang or cartel-related knife crimes to attain a more realistic view of an attacker and the criminal ethos. Stevens is not a Libre instructor yet but is a guild member in search of others to train with in this anatomically-correct style.

A note from Instructor Stevens –
Kung Fu translated means, “Supreme skill from hard work.” If you want to work hard with me I’d love to work with you. If you want to get in shape and live with confidence come train with me. In this way we improve our health, we better serve our loved ones, and we serve our community better because we make it a safer place to live.
